Ltl Acorn 6310MG

This camera is a durable device that is powered by batteries. It can transmit images and video clips wirelessly over cellular networks rather than having to rely on a cable connection to operate effectively.

There is space on board for up to 12 AA batteries; however, users have the option of installing just four if they want to get the camera up and running quickly. A built-in two-inch LCD display on the rear lets you review captured pictures and footage, which can be stored locally on memory cards with up to 32GB of space.

The 6310MG has a lens with a 52-degree field of view, backed up by an array of 44 infrared LEDs. These provide excellent night vision capabilities and offer a visibility range of up to 30 metres, even in otherwise pitch-black conditions. As these are no-glow LEDs, there is no chance that they will be visible to the naked eye when they are active.

When using this product as part of a camera trap, the integrated motion sensors that come with three different sensitivity settings will enable you to make appropriate adjustments and only capture the animals you want to see in action. You can also make use of the timer capabilities to set the camera so that it is only active during specific hours of the day or night, avoiding any unwanted alerts.

The password protection system ensures that no third parties can tamper with the camera if they encounter it. Meanwhile, the IP54 rating means the camera is weatherproof and will withstand whatever conditions it might face all year round.

Ltl Acorn 6310WMG

This Ltl Acorn camera range has all the same key benefits as the standard model; in addition, it has the advantage of a wide-angle lens with a 100-degree field of view, giving you a much better vantage point if you are looking to capture images and video clips of a larger area.

It can record videos in high-def resolutions at up to 30 frames a second; alternatively, if you want to use less storage space, there is standard VGA capture available. Still images can be taken at resolutions of up to 12 megapixels and the camera will respond in just 0.6 seconds when the motion sensors are triggered, ensuring you do not miss any of the action.

These cameras can also record audio to go with the video. When you want to transfer the media to a PC, you can either take out the memory card or plug it straight into your computer via a USB cable.

Version differences

The obvious distinction between the 6310MG and 6310WMG is that the latter can make use of its wide-angle lens to increase the chances of capturing a fast-moving target after it has been triggered. The main downside of this lens set-up is that the edges of the image will be a little fuzzier and less crisp than its counterpart with a narrower field of view.

Whether you opt for the 6310MG or the 6310WMG, you will need to select which of the three distinct models within each series is suitable for your needs and budget.

The standard models come with 2G cellular connectivity, which can use mobile networking to transfer low-res images direct to your handset as soon as they are captured.

The mid-tier 3G-Basic model has quicker connectivity at its disposal and can send full-res images and even video clips of up to 50 megabytes in size. The only restriction is that you need to send a request to the camera via text message to receive these in-depth media files rather than settling for the standard thumbnails.

The range-topping 3G model automatically sends up to three full-res snaps and a video file whenever the camera is triggered, depending on the settings you specify.

The powerful external antenna on all models ensures a good network connection in areas with decent coverage. You can even get the pictures and recordings sent to you via email for added convenience and flexibility.
